Texas Wildcatters Repeat 10-Game Win Streak with a Victory Over Pensacola Ice Pilots 3-1 - ECHL

MLN Newswire – mlntherawfeed.com - Beaumont, TX - The Texas Wildcatters matched their season-high ten-game unbeaten streak with a 3-1 win over the Pensacola Ice Pilots Saturday night at Ford Arena.

Scott Champagne netted his fourth goal of the season with a power play tally at 10:28 of the first period to give the 'Catters a 1-0 lead.

A.J. Thelen
marked his return from the injured reserve list with his third goal of the season to give the 'Catters a 2-0 lead entering the first intermission. Champagne and Marc Fulton would assist on the power play goal.

Texas would continue to shell Pensacola goalie Mike Brodeur, and again Brodeur would prove tough to solve. He would finish the night with 37 saves and has faced 88 shots through the first two games of this series.

Mike Sgroi would score his second goal in two nights at 13:22 of the second for the only Ice Pilots goal of the night and the teams would enter the third period with the score 2-1.

Max Taylor
would provide the Wildcatters with some insurance when he scored the third Texas power play goal of the night midway through the third period of assists from Brandon Benedict and John McNabb.

With the win, the ECHL-leading Wildcatters extend their unbeaten streak to ten games, matching their season-high streak that extended from October 20 - November 16. The last Texas loss in regulation game against the Elmira Jackals on November 17.

With only two regualtion losses, the 'Catters have gathered standing points in 20 of the first 22 games of the season (17-2-0-3 = 37 pts).
