MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Beaumont, TX – Ben Thomson’s first career ECHL game brought his first hat trick for the Texas Wildcatters in a 6-4 win over the Augusta Lynx Friday night.

Texas jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Thomson at 3:13 and Colin Nicholson at 8:51 before the Lynx got the offense in gear.

Garrett Bembridge would bank a shot in from behind Miroslav Kopriva in the Wildcatters’ net at 12:08 to cut the deficit in half at 2-1.

Thomson’s second of the night at 13:37 restored the two-goal advantage, but the Lynx recorded a power play goal from Louis Goulet to make it 3-2 at intermission.

Despite 14 shots on goal and many quality scoring chances, the Lynx were unable to mark in the middle frame. Thomson would complete his hat trick at 19:40 when he finally potted a rebound to the side of the Lynx net for a power play marker and a 4-2 Texas edge after 40 minutes of play.

Twice Augusta narrowed the gap to a single goal in the third with markers from Shane Hynes and Aaron Slattengren, but an empty net insurance goal from Kevin Baker would cement the win for the Wildcatters at 19:10.
