MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown SteelHounds (34-20-10) playoff picture is finally clear after the team’s 6-4 loss earlier on Sunday in Bossier-Shreveport against the Mudbugs. Youngstown will head to Colorado to play the Eagles (46-17-2) in a first round best-of-seven series.
The Eagles hopes of gaining a third straight Governors’ Cup was thwarted over the last 24 hours with Colorado’s 8-4 loss at Arizona on Saturday night coupled with the Mudbugs victory today. The two points at the CenturyTel Center gave Bossier-Shreveport the title for most points in the regular season with 94 (44-14-6).
The Hounds and Eagles met five times this season with Colorado owning a 4-1 advantage and an 8-1 advantage in the all-time series. Youngstown has never won in Fort Collins in four chances. Each of the last three overall contests were decided by one goal and the Hounds loan win versus the Eagles came in the team’s last get-together on March 18th, a 3-2 win.
“We really do match-up well with Colorado despite the record against them,” said SteelHounds Head Coach Kevin Kaminski. “All five games this season versus the Eagles have been competitive with the teams playing very hard and a bounce here or there could have easily changed the outcome.”
The series will begin on Friday, March 30th at the Budweiser Events Center with face-off scheduled for 9:05 PM (EST). The series will feature a 2-3-2 set-up with the middle three games being played in the Chevrolet Centre.
Additionally, Game Two of the series is slated to be broadcast live on Altitude Sports and Entertainment television, available through many satellite programmers.
