The Trenton Titans Draw First Blood As They Defeat The Johnstown Chiefs 4-2 In Game 1 Of Their ECHL Playoff Series

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Trenton, NJ (April 9, 2007) - The Trenton Titans defeated the Johnstown Chiefs by a score of 4-2 at the Sovereign Bank Arena in Game One of the North Division Quarterfinals on Monday evening.

Benoit Mondou opened the scoring for Trenton, picking up the rebound of a shot from Scott Bertoli at 10:22 of the first period with the Titans on the power play. Luis Tremblay would give Trenton a 2-0 lead 56 seconds into the second period, taking a pass from behind the goal line from Chris Capraro and beating Chiefs goaltender Ryan Munce along the ice.

Johnstown evened the score at two apiece, as Geoff Waugh scored with a drive from the point that beat Trenton goaltender Gregg Naumenko through traffic at 7:32 of the second, and then Jean Desrochers picked up the rebound of a shot from Marek Kvapil to even the score at 8:49.

Bertoli scored his first of the playoffs to put Trenton ahead at 2:50 of the third period, and Mark Pandolfo added an insurance goal at 12:08 as Trenton held on for the win. Ryan Munce made 38 saves in taking the loss, and the Chiefs were 0-for-3 on the power play.
