Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights Get Paddled 4-0 by The Peoria Riverman in The AHL

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Omaha, NE – The Peoria Rivermen struck early in the game and shutout the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights 4-0 on Friday night in the final home game of the regular season.

The Rivermen struck first when rookie David Backes, just reassigned from St. Louis after playing 49 games with the parent Blues, beat Brent Krahn through a screen at 3:57.

Peoria doubled the lead in the last minute of the period when DJ King, also just returned from St. Louis, knocked in a pass from Gavin Morgan to make it 2-0 after one.

After a scoreless second period, Yan Stastny added a breakaway goal early in the third period to boost Peoria’s lead to 3-0. King scored into an empty net for the final tally.

The Knights are now 47-25-5-1. The Rivermen are now 10-0-0-0 all-time at the Civic Auditorium.
