The Syracuse Crunch Get Munched By The Rochester Americans 3-2 In AHL Battle

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Rochester, NY - April 13, 2007 – Center Janis Sprukts (18) scored with 21 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Amerks to a 3-2 win over the Crunch at Blue Cross Arena in front of 8,674 fans.

 

Left wing Curtis Glencross (23) caught Rochester on their heels and beat Rochester goaltender Craig Anderson with a back-hand at the 18:09 mark of the first. Many of the Amerks players looked as if the were waiting for the play to be called dead as left wing Alexandre Picard laid on the ice after being hit in the knee coming into the Rochester zone.

The team’s headed into the final frame with a 2-2- tie. Left wing Clarke MacArthur (20) beat goaltender Tomas Popperle stick-side for a power play goal to knot the game at one. Glencross (24) came back, skating in short-handed and putting the puck off the inside of Anderson’s pad. The score was evened again when left wing Michael Ryan (27) put a one-timer past Popperle at the 11:19 mark of the second, forcing the game into overtime.

Anderson recorded 42 saves in the win, improving to 22-10-1 on the season. Popperle fell to 24-18-4 on the season, recording 32 saves.
