MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors notched two short-handed goals, but Nathan Martz’s goal in the eighth round of the shootout gave the Stockton Thunder a 4-3 win Saturday night in front of 7,344 at Rabobank Arena.

The Condors (41-16-12, 94 points) led the shootout 2-0 after two rounds, but never scored again. Stockton (36-22-10, 82 points) scored in the third and fourth rounds, and then was blanked until Martz tallied to put the Thunder ahead. Cam Ellsworth then stopped David Kudelka to clinch Stockton’s ninth consecutive win and 12th in their last 13 games.

The Thunder grabbed an early 2-0 lead, thanks to tallies by Jim Dahl and Stephane Goulet. Dahl lit the lamp first 2:11 into the first period, putting a rebound past Jamie Hodson for his eighth goal of the year. Goulet’s came on a power play at 4:30, as he streaked behind the Condors defense before putting in his 16th marker. Brock Radunske earned an assist on the play, extending his point streak to 12 games.

Bakersfield, however, came back with two goals of its own to knot the game, 2-2. Tyler Scott netted a short- hander at 5:51, busting behind the net before wrapping it past Stockton netminder Cam Ellsworth. It was his 13th goal of the season. Then Tyler Liebel knocked in a rebound at 12:05 of the first, his ninth goal of the campaign.

Mike Hofstrand netted another short-handed goal 11:59 into the second period, giving the Condors a 3-2 lead. Stockton couldn’t hold the puck inside the Bakersfield zone and Hofstrand was off to the races, eventually beating Ellsworth high for his 10th marker.

But at 12:34 of the third period, Brian Lee got the equalizer on a blast from the point on the power-play.

Neither team could score in the overtime, setting up the wild shootout.

Notes: Bakersfield finished the 2006-07 season series 3-4-1 against Stockton , including 1-2-1 at The Nest. The Condors have earned points in 16 of their last 19 games ( 11-3-5 ) and are 25-6-9 in 2007. If the playoffs started today, Bakersfield would play Fresno in the first round. The Condors have allowed the first goal in eight straight contests.
