MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - PENSACOLA , FL –After keeping the Florida Everblades at bay for the first 40 minutes and trailing just 3-0, the Pensacola Ice Pilots couldn’t stop them any more. The Everblades blasted six goals in the third period and went to on to dump the Ice Pilots 9-0 on Tuesday night at The Hangar.

It was the worse loss of the year for the Ice Pilots. Greg Kowalski posted the shutout for the Everblades. The victory for Florida vaulted them into first place in the South Division just one point ahead of the Texas Wildcatters and two ahead of the Gwinnett Gladiators who were beaten tonight.

The Ice Pilots dropped their record to 19-45-2-4 for 44 points and 11-18-2-3 on home ice.

In the first 40 minutes the Ice Pilots hung around and trailed just 3-0 as the Everblades scored three in the opening period. Two of the goals were scored less than three minutes apart and the last goal was with nine seconds remaining in the first period and it was short handed.

The Ice Pilots played a determined second period but couldn’t break through goaltender Kowalski, including several chances on the power play.

Pensacola had a great chance to score early in the third period when Erik Johnson was left alone in front of the net but his shot was denied by a great save by Kowalski.

The remainder of the period turned out to be all Everblades as they scored early and often including one on the power play.

Adam Geragosian took the loss in goal. Jorge Alves came on in relief late in the third period.
