Kyle Beach Sends Everett Silvertips To A Big 3-2 Victory Over Tri-City Americans

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – EVERETT, WA - For the second consecutive game, in the shootout, Kyle Beach recorded the game-winning goal to lift the Everett Silvertips (23-19-0-2, 48 pts) to a 3-2 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans (28-10-1-2, 59 pts) in front of 4,738 fans at Comcast Arena in Everett. The Silvertips have now won their last three games and have climbed to within 11 points of Tri-City in the Western Conference standings. Meanwhile, now at four games, the loss continues Tri-City’s longest losing skid of the season.

The night started off poorly for Tri-City, as the ‘Tips jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period. Everett’s Dan Gendur registered his 14th and 15th goals of the season in the period to pace the Silvertips. But, with less than four minutes remaining in the period, Jason Reese put Tri-City on the board with his 17th goal of the season.

The Silvertips held their one-goal lead throughout the second period and into the final frame. However, with just 2:05 gone in the third period and on the power play, Colton Yellow Horn used his 27th goal of the season to tie the game at 2-apiece.

Both teams had several near-chances throughout the remainder of regulation and the overtime period, but the game eventually headed into a shootout. Beach connected on Everett’s second attempt in the shootout for the ‘Tips only mark, but the Americans went 0-for-3 to fall to 2-and-2 in shootouts. This season, Tri-City has lost only three post-regulation contests, with all three losses coming at the hands of the Silvertips. Tri-City goaltender Chet Pickard stopped 28 shots in the loss, while Everett netminder Leland Irving collected 24 saves in the win. The Americans finished 1-for-6 on the power play, while the ‘Tips went 1-for-8 on the man-advantage.

With the win, Everett now leads the best-of-10 series 5-to-3.
