Troy, OH – The Johnstown Chiefs made things hard on themselves by allowing three first period goals, but came from behind to beat Dayton on Saturday night by a score of 5-3.
The Bombers cashed in just 1:41 into the first when Corey LeClair put one past Ryan Nie after his initial shot caromed off of the glass behind the Johnstown net. Ryan Smyth followed that with a shorthanded breakaway goal at 3:08, and Ryan Reid scored with the Bombers on a 5-on-3 man advantage to extend the lead to three.

The comeback began in earnest late in the second period when Rob Drummond touched a puck by Rejean Beauchemin with only 46 seconds remaining in the frame. Ryan Garlock took the initial shot that was turn aside by the blocker of Beauchemin. The rebound popped right up into the air, came to rest in the crease, and Drummond poked it in before the Dayton defenders could recover.
In the third period Jean Desrochers stole the puck away from Mike Campaner and scored his 22nd goal of the season at 6:47 of the third. Even though the Chiefs launched 18 shots on Beauchemin in the third, Desrochers' was the only one that got past the Bombers' netminder. Dayton's Mike Walsh would cash in an empty-net goal with 1:14 left in regulation to seal the victory for Dayton.
Ryan Nie finished the game with 30 saves for Johnstown, but the power play let Nie, and the Chiefs, down; unable to score on 10 opportunities.
