Oklahoma City Blazers Head Coach Doug Sauter Reaches Milestone - CHL
Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 07:53AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - The Central Hockey League (CHL) is proud to announce that Oklahoma City Head Coach Doug Sauter stepped into CHL history tonight by winning his 500th game with the Blazers. Sauter, in his 13th season behind the bench for the Blazers, watched his club defeat the Tulsa Oilers tonight by a final score of 4-2.
Sauter becomes just the second head coach in North America minor professional hockey history to reach 500 wins with the same franchise joining Frank Mathers who earned 610 wins with the American Hockey League’s Hershey Bears.

In all the pro ranks in North America, Sauter joins Mathers and NHL coaches Toe Blake (Montreal), Al Arbour (NY Islanders) and Billy Reay (Chicago) as the only coaches to win 500 or more games with the same team.
Earlier this season, Sauter won his 1200th game as a coach and he is now one win shy of reaching 700 wins in his professional coaching career.
The CHL’s all-time leader in coaching wins has the Blazers 23-23-6 this season and fighting for a Northern Conference playoff spot with 12 regular season games remaining.
