The Thunder raced out to a 2-1 advantage through 20 minutes, ignited by
two goals in a span of 24 seconds beginning with David Rohlfs’ 12th
goal of the season at the 7:06 mark of the first period when he tipped
Tim O’Connell’s blast from the left point past Bakersfield
goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji while setting a screen. Geoff Paukovich then
lifted the Thunder to a 2-0 with his 13th goal of the season, completing
a give-and-go play with Adam Huxley’s pass in the slot.

Brett Lutes’s 15th goal of the season cut the Thunder advantage to
2-1 at the 14:40, finishing a one-timer in the slot past the five-hole
of Thunder goalie Tim Boron.

Veteran Tim Verbeek’s third goal of the season and 100th of his
professional career hiked the Thunder lead to 3-1 with 2:27 gone in the
second period, finishing a give-and-go play with Paukovich’s pass from
the left side boards. Verbeek buried a one-timer from the slot to finish
the goal.

Brandon Schwartz’s 12th goal of the season expanded the Thunder lead
to 4-1 with 6:57 left on the team’s 10th shorthanded goal of the year,
taking a drop pass from Rohlfs at the right wing, cut down the slot on
Fukufuji and buried a wrist shot from in tight.

Boron stopped 17 shots from Bakersfield in the second period to
preserve the Thunder lead.
