Laredo Bucks Halt the Youngstown SteelHounds Home Win Streak at Five with 3-1 Victory

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – The Laredo Bucks defeated the Youngstown SteelHounds 3-1 on Sunday afternoon snapping the Hounds five game home winning streak and eight game point streak.  Youngstown is 36-20-5 (77 points) and will stay in the top five for the Northern Conference playoff picture.

Derek Legault scored at 10:25 of the first period to put the Bucks (40-19-3, 83 points) up 1-0 after one period.

In the second period Chris Stanley scored an unassisted power play goal at 4:39 to make it 2-0.  Laredo was 1-5 while Youngstown was 0-7 on the power play.  Alex Goupil put Laredo up 3-0 with 11:30 to play in the second period.  At 10:11 of the second period a line brawl ensued having three players from each team receive game misconducts.  Youngstown goaltender Kevin Beech and Buck net minder Dustin Traylen joined the fray receiving five minute majors as well as minors for leaving the crease.  Neither goalie was ejected but both were pulled by their coaches and did not see action the rest of the game.  The two teams combined for 40 penalties and 180 penalty minutes Youngstown recording 98 of them.  Beech had 10 saves on 13 shots while Traylen made 12 saves on 12 shots in the 30:11 of work.

Youngstown tried to shift momentum as Kurtis Dulle scored his fifth of the season 14:54 to make it 3-1 after two periods.  John Ceci did the rest as he made 13 saves on 14 shots in relief of Traylen to give Laredo a 3-1 win.  Andy Franck made 16 saves on 16 shots in relief of Beech.
