Joey Kocur, Former Detroit Red Wing, will Start Things Off at Muskegon/Fort Wayne Game - IHL
Friday, March 7, 2008 at 09:27AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - MUSKEGON – Former Detroit Red Wing Joey Kocur will be in attendance at the Fury’s game against Fort Wayne on Friday at L.C. Walker Arena at 7:30 p.m.
Kocur will be dropping the ceremonial first puck before the game as well as signing autographs throughout the contest in the concourse at L.C. Walker Arena.

Kocur played two stints with the Red Wings. From 1984-91, he was known as one of the Bruise Brothers with Bob Probert. He returned to Detroit in the 1996-97 season, when the team picked him up from a beer league, and played until the 1998-99 season for Detroit.
Known for his physical play, Kocur is one of the most penalized players in NHL history amassing a career total of 2519 penalty minutes in stints with the Red Wings, the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks. Kocur retired at the end of the 1998-1999 season. He served as a Red Wings video coach to Scotty Bowman from the 2001-02 season. Under head coach Dave Lewis, Kocur served as a Red Wings’ associate coach along with Barry Smith from 2002-04.
With the Red Wings, Kocur won Stanley Cups in both the 1996-97 and 97-98 seasons as a player. He was the video coach for the team during its 2001-02 Stanley Cup Championship run. Kocur was also a member of the New York Rangers team that won the Stanley Cup in the 1993-94 season.
The Fury are 28-24-3-1 on the season, good for fourth place in the International Hockey League with 60 points. The Komets lead the IHL with a record of 40-12-5-1, good for 86 points.
