Las Vegas Wranglers Defeated by Stockton Thunder 4-2 in ECHL National Conference Quarterfinals
Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 10:30AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Wranglers ® were defeated by the Stockton Thunder 4-2 in Game 1 of the National Conference Quarterfinals on Friday night in front of 3,442 fans at the Orleans Arena. Stockton goalie Tim Boron stopped 39 of 41 Las Vegas shots to give Stockton a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. Forward Jonas Almtorp scored a shorthanded goal with 4:19 remaining in the third period to put the Thunder ahead for good. Despite getting outshot 41-22, the Thunder managed to score four goals in the third period after trailing the first two periods of the game. Wranglers forward Brandon Kaleniecki scored his first goal of the playoffs and added an assist in the loss. Goalie Kevin Lalande lost his professional playoff debut, allowing three goals on 21 Stockton shots. Game Two of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.

In the first period, Las Vegas scored the lone goal as Jason Jozsa tallied on the power play just 7:23 into the game. Forwards Brandon Kaleniecki and Kelly Czuy each assisted on the first goal of the night.
Stockton tied the game 1-1 just 3:50 in the third period as defenseman Tim O’Connell fired a shot through traffic and into the back of the Las Vegas net. Just 44-seconds later, the Thunder took the lead as forward Lance Monych ripped a shot through traffic and by Las Vegas goalie Kevin Lalande at 4:34, giving Stockton a 2-1 edge. Las Vegas clawed back to tie the game 2-2 as Kaleniecki redirected an Adam Cracknell shot at 9:43. Stockton winger Adam Huxley was whistled for high sticking at 14:21, giving the Wranglers a power play. The Thunder took a 3-2 lead with a shorthanded goal by Jonas Almtorp, set up by Brandon Schwartz at 15:41. Stockton added an empty-net goal as Stephane Goulet tallied his first of the playoffs at 18:50 for the final score of 4-2.
