Tri-City Americans Shut Out Seattle Thunderbirds 4-0 in WHL Second Round Playoff Series
Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 10:47AM MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Kennewick, WA - The Tri-City Americans shut out the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-0 Friday night at Toyota Center in Game 5 of their second round playoff series.
The Americans win the best-of-seven series 4-1 and eliminate the T-Birds from the playoffs.
The T-Birds defeated the Kelowna Rockets in the first round of the playoffs, 4-3, and finished the regular season with a 42-23-5-2 record.
Jason Reese got the Americans on the board at 14:59 of the first period with a power-play goal. TJ Fast and Shaun Vey had the assists.
Seattle outshot Tri-City 12-7 in the first period.
Taylor Procyshen scored an unassisted goal on a breakaway at 12:13 of the second period to put Tri-City up 2-0.
ADVERTISEMENT Tri-City outshot Seattle 12-11 in the second period but Seattle led in total shots 23-19, after two periods.
Colton Yellow Horn scored a power-play goal at 13:53 of the third period to put the Americans in front 3-0. Reese and Procyshen had the assists.
Yellow Horn added an empty-net goal at 15:46 of the third to make it a 4-0 Americans lead. Jarrett Toll had the only assist.
Seattle outshot Tri-City 9-6 in the third period and 32- 25 in the game.
Seattle goalie Jacob DeSerres made 21 saves on 24 shots and finished the playoffs with a 1-2 record.
Tri-City goalie Chet Pickard got his second shutout of the playoffs by stopping 32 shots and his record is now 8-1.
