All-Rookie Team for 2007-08 Season is Revealed by the International Hockey League (IHL)

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Thursday the 2007-08 All-Rookie Team as selected by league head coaches, general managers, and members of the media.
 
2007-08 IHL FIRST TEAM ALL-STARS
Goaltender – Loic Lacasse, Bloomington PrairieThunder
Defenseman – Nick Tuzzolino, Flint Generals
Defenseman – Jamie Vanderveeken, Kalamazoo Wings
Forward – Jamie Carroll, Port Huron Icehawks
Forward – Luciano Aquino, Fort Wayne Komets
Forward – Mathieu Curadeau, Fort Wayne Komets
 
Loic Lacasse (G), Bloomington PrairieThunder – The 21-year-old native of Granby, Quebec, completed the regular season with a 19-18-2-3 record.  He posted a 3.24 goals against average (GAA) and a .906 save percentage (SPCT) in 47 games played during his rookie season. He ranked third overall among IHL goaltenders in saves with 1,329. Lacasse’s 19 victories this season set a new PrairieThunder franchise record in wins.

Nick Tuzzolino (D), Flint Generals – The 22-year-old Buffalo, New York native was the Generals most productive defenseman this season, scoring 10 goals and 34 assists for 44 points. He was one of two Flint players who played in all 76 games this season. Tuzzolino was named the Pepsi Defenseman of the Week during week 9.
 
Jamie Vanderveeken (D), Kalamazoo Wings – The 22-year-old native of Wallaceburg, Ontario posted 33 points during his rookie campaign, scoring 14 goals and 19 assists. Of those 14 goals, eight were scored on the power play, which led all IHL defenseman. Vanderveeken was named the Aquafina Rookie of the Week during week four, 20 and 23 and was the Pepsi Defenseman of the Month for March.
 
Jamie Carroll (F), Port Huron Icehawks – The 24-year-old Andover, Connecticut native was ranked second among IHL rookies in scoring with 30 goals and 40 assists for 70 points during his rookie season. He led all rookies and was second overall in the IHL in shots on goal with 318. Carroll was named the Aquafina Rookie of the Week during week three, six, 15, 18 and 24 and was the Aquafina Rookie of the Month for October.
 
Luciano Aquino (F), Fort Wayne Komets – The 23-year-old native of Mississauga, Ontario led all IHL rookies in scoring with 91 points (41g, 50a). His 91 points ranked him second overall in the IHL in scoring. He led all rookies in goals (41), assists (50) and power play goals (15) as well. Aquino was named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Year for the 2007-8 season.
 
Mathieu Curadeau (F), Fort Wayne Komets – The 22-year-old Montreal, Quebec native finished his rookie season scoring 59 points (34g, 25a). He wrapped up the season with a plus-31 rating, which was the second highest in the IHL. He earned honors as the Aquafina Rookie of the Week during week nine and 11, as well as the Aquafina Rookie of the Month for February.
