Colorado Eagles Fly by with 3-2 Win Over Texas Brahmas - CHL Northern Conference Finals

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (April 18) - Despite incredible effort from the Brahmas, they found themselves in a 3-1 series hole as they lost to the Colorado Eagles 3-2 Saturday night.

The first period was an even fight as the Brahmas and Eagles left the ice scoreless after 20 minutes. Each team peppered 12 shots on the opposing goaltenders. Brett Jaeger had the start for Texas and Sebastien Laplante for the Eagles.

In the second period both teams played a tight game until Eagles forward Seth Leonard scored his third goal in the postseason on Jaeger at the 5:03 mark. The Brahmas were unable to convert on a two man advantage for a minute and a half. Texas outshot Colorado 19-9 in the period.

In the final period Texas offense woke up on the powerplay when Justin Kinnunen and Tyler Skworchinski sent a pass to Scott Sheppard that found its way to the back of Laplante's net. Colorado answered at the 3:05 mark when left wing Ryan Tobler scored his second goal of the postseason. Thirty-six seconds later Brahmas enforcer Chris Thompson scored his third goal of the playoffs, to make it a 2-2 game.

The defense was crucial for both teams as they both tried to find the edge, but it was Leonard with an unassisted goal at the 6:17 mark in the third. The goal was eventually the game winner. Texas is now down 3-1 in the Northern Conference Finals. Texas outshot Colorado 43-36 and went 1 for 8 on the powerplay.
