The Bruins scored the first goal of the game at 16:54 of the third period to give the home team a 1-0 lead.  Right wing Jeff Hoggan carried the puck into the Monarchs zone along the left wing and tossed the puck on net as Knackstedt crashed the cage.  Knackstedt was able to get his stick on Hoggan's shot and tip it past Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Quick for his first playoff tally.  Defenseman Brett Skinner earned an assist on the goal.
Left wing Pascal Pelletier scored an unassisted empty net goal after stealing the puck in the Monarchs zone at 19:40 of the final frame.
Quick took the loss with 38 saves on 39 shots.  Rask earned the shutout victory by stopping all 21 shots he faced in the game.
