Johnstown Chiefs Ice Wheeling Nailers 3-0 in ECHL Shutout

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - JOHNSTOWN, PA – Ryan Nie turned in a flawless performance helping the Johnstown Chiefs to a 3-0 win over the Wheeling Nailers Friday night at the Cambria County War Memorial.  Alexandre Imbeault provided the offense with a pair of goals for the Chiefs.

The first period was pretty evenly matched but the Chiefs managed to sneak a couple of shots past goaltender Curtis Darling in his first game back from a week with the Manchester Monarchs.  Andrew Marten's wrist shot was easily stopped by Darling but before he could reach out and cover the puck Joey Olson poked it between his legs and into the net.  It was Olson's 15th of the season at the 5:30 mark of the first.

A bench minor for too many men on the ice gave the Johnstown Chiefs their first power play of the game at 9:21.  Just 14 seconds later Alexandre Imbeault notched his 60th point (24th goal) of the season to double his team's lead.  MLNGirlsFeb2008_Lisa.jpg

Brian Deeth and Ray Macais assited on the goal.

Imbeault struck again with the lone goal of the second period.  A center-ice turnover by the Nailers led to a 2-on-0 with Ray Macais and Imbeault waltzing in on Darling.  Macais made a move and then slid the puck to Imbeaut for his second of the game.

Despite Wheeling's efforts in the final period, Nie completed his third shutout of the season by stopping all 20 shots he faced.

The Wheeling Nailers will finish the 2007-08 season with a game against the Elmira Jackals on Saturday at 7:35pm.  Radio coverage will be available for the game on the Mix 97.3 FM as well as online at www.wheelingnailers.com
