Wheeling Nailers End Season on a Sour Note After 6-1 Loss to the Elmira Jackals
Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 01:30PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – ELMIRA, NY – The Wheeling Nailers concluded their 2007-08 season Saturday night against the Elmira Jackals with a 6-1 loss in front of 4,104 fans at First Arena.
The first period featured a combined 15 shots on goal, five for Wheeling and ten for Elmira, including two Jackals goals just forty five seconds apart.
Elgin Reid got the scoring started at 15:39 of the first period with a power play goal from Trevor Hendrikx and Topher Scott. Scott was able to win the face off back to Hendrikx who feed Reid for his second professional goal of the season. Less than a minute later Maxime Boisclair found Brett Pilkington for his eighth goal of the year and gave the Jackals a 2-0 lead at the end of one.
In the second period the Jackals extended their lead with three goals to make it 5-0 at the end of two.

ADVERTISEMENT Luke Fulghum made the score 3-0 Jackals at 10:46 of the second period with an assist from Maxime Boisclair. Less than thirty seconds later Bobby Robins would give the Jackals a four goal lead with an assist from former Nailer Bruce Watson at 11:10. Maxime Boisclair finished the scoring in the third with a late power play goal at 14:50 with assists from Hendrikx and Reid. The goal was Boisclair’s fourth of the season.
In the third period the Jackals would kill off a 5 on 3 advantage for Wheeling preserving their five goal lead just 2:36 into the period. Elgin Reid would then extend the lead to 6-0 nothing at 15:43 with an assist from Maxime Boisclair who earned four points on the night. The goal was Reid’s second of the night and third of the season.
Sean Collins would break up Joel Martin’s shutout bid and get the Nailers on the board twenty nine seconds later with assist from Matt Dias at 16:12. The goal was Collins’s 15th of the season and would give him a team leading 56 points for the season.
The Nailers finished their 2007-08 campaign with a record of 22-43-3-4 for 51 points.
