Bob Langdon Named Referee In Chief For Mid-Atlantic Hockey League
Friday, July 4, 2008 at 11:50AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -CANTON , OH – The Mid-Atlantic Hockey League announced today that veteran referee Bob Langdon, has accepted the position of Referee-in-Chief for the upcoming 2008-2009 MAHL season.
Langdon, a veteran official of the National Hockey League, will immediately assume his new duties and begin organizing and recruiting linesmen and referees for the MAHL’s second season.
Langdon began his officiating career in the Ontario Hockey League and moved on to the United Hockey League, Central Hockey League and ECHL. In 2000, he moved to the NHL and officiated there for six years. He split time with the American Hockey League in those years. Langdon retired in 2006 from the NHL.
Larry Debnar, MAHL director of operations made the announcement of Langdon joining the MAHL front office.
“Bob is another great stride for the MAHL heading into the new season,” said Debnar. “We are thrilled as a league to have someone of Bob’s talent and experience joining the team.”
Last season Langdon officiated in the IHL and was named Official of the Year and participated in the IHL’s Turner Cup Finals. He also has international experience having refereed in Denmark and trained officials in Iceland in addition to Denmark .
“The MAHL is building a quality organization for the coming season,” said Langdon. “I am happy to be a part of the effort to grow the league, develop the young players and create a professional development pathway for officials as well as players and coaches.”
The MAHL season begins in November 2008.
