Mississippi RiverKings Trounce Texas Brahmas 4-1 - CHL

(Southaven, MS) -- Mississippi stopped Texas' six-game winning streak with a 4-1 victory over the Brahmas in Central Hockey League action at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Matt Summers scored a pair of goals, and goaltender Kevin Beech added a pair of assists in addition to picking up the victory for the RiverKings.
Texas opened the scoring on a shorthanded goal from Grant Jacobsen at 4:55 for a 1-0 lead, but Mississippi answered with a goal from Matt Summers at 7:35 to tie the game at 1-1, followed by a power play score from Jeff Alcombrack at 12:07 for a 2-1 lead after twenty minutes.
There was no scoring in the second period, but the RiverKings put the contest away in the final period
with Summers' second goal of the night at 11:59 and Garrett Larson scoring a power play goal at 15:21 for the final score.
Mississippi out shot the Brahmas 27-23 for the game, including 12 shots in the third period. The RiverKings also were 2-for-10 on the power play, while stopping all six Texas power play chances.
Kevin Beech won his 17th game of the season (17-8-0) with a 22-save performance, while Brett Jaeger stopped 23 of 27 RiverKings shots on net, as his record fell to 16-5-3.
Mississippi is now 22-12-0 for the season and has a two-game winning streak going into a late Sunday afternoon game against the Blazers in Oklahoma City. Texas fell to 22-10-3 with the loss.
