Bakersfield Condors Lose 8-2 to Ontario Reign - ECHL

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.  -  F Greg Hogeboom had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Ontario Reign to an 8-2 win in front of 5,070 fans at Rabobank Arena Saturday night.  The Condors opened up the season 1-1-0-0 in their two-game series against the Reign.

The Reign started the scoring in the first period early, with LW Peter Lenes notching his first career goal on the first shot of the game :39 in.  D Eric Regan tied it up for the Condors later in the period at 7:58.  Ontario bounced back, however, and added two more in the period to regain the advantage.  Hogeboom and F Adam Henrich both tallied to make it 3-1 after one.

Ontario extended the lead with a goal from RW Jon Rhealt at 5:17 but the Condors answered.  RW Dan Sexton snapped home his second in as many nights, banking it off a defenseman to make it 4-2.  Ontario was undaunted, however, and pulled away from the Condors with three more in the period, chasing rookie G Timo Pielmeier from the game in his first professional start.ADVERTISEMENT

G Justin Pogge replaced Pielmeier to start the final frame.  He surrendered one more tally, a power play goal by D Mike Egener at 13:20.  The final shots favored Bakersfield, 36-24, but the scoreboard yielded an 8-2 victory for the Reign.  G Curtis Darling earned the victory, stopping 34 shots.
