Adirondack Phantoms Double Up the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-2

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Bridgeport, CT -- Jared Ross and Jason Ward each had a goal and assist and Brian Boucher made 29 saves as the Adirondack Phantoms held off the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at Harbor Yard. The loss was the Sound Tigers' second straight defeat, dropping them to 4-2-0-0 on the season.

The Sound Tigers got on the board first 5:12 into the game when Dustin Kohn fired a shot from the top of the circles that whizzed past Brian Boucher for a power-play tally. However, the Phantoms proceeded to score three unanswered goals to take the lead. Jon Matsumoto tied the score midway through the period, poking a loose puck underneath goaltender Nathan Lawson, who was sprawled on the ice following a save on Oskars Bartulis. Ross made it 2-1 two minutes later. Lawson made a nice pad save on a shot by Kris Kolanos but Ross followed the play and cleaned up the rebound to give the Phantoms the lead after one period.

Ward gave the Phantoms a two goal edge midway through the second period. The forward took a pass from Ross, skated into the offensive zone and made a nice deke, sliding the puck around Lawson's leg for his first tally of the year.

Greg Moore got the Sound Tigers within one with seven minutes left, firing a snap-shot from the left circle past Boucher for his third tally of the year. However, Kolanos tacked on an empty-net goal with 20 seconds left to seal the Phantoms' victory.

The Sound Tigers held a 31-30 advantage in shots on goal. Lawson made 26 saves in the losing effort.

The Sound Tigers are back in action Tuesday night when they visit the Lowell Devils at 7:00 pm. Bridgeport returns home on Saturday when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at 7:00 pm. ADVERTISEMENT
