Bakersfield Condors Edge Victoria Salmon Kings 4-3 - ECHL

VICTORIA, B.C.  -  The Bakersfield Condors (3-2-0-0, 6pts) won a wild 4-3 victory over the Victoria Salmon Kings (1-5-0-0, 2pts) Saturday night at Save-On-Foods Memoerial Centre to take the rubber match of the three-game series.  C MacGregor Sharp scored two goals and G Justin Pogge made 33 saves to improve to 2-1-0 on the season.

A scoreless first period was followed by a scoring frenzy in the second.

RW Dan Sexton put the Condors up 1-0 with a breakaway goal at 5:12 of the second period.  LW Shawn Weller poked the puck ahead to Sexton, who shot in all alone on G John Murray.  Sexton deked to the forehand, before depositing it top shelf on the backhand.  With 8:36 remaining in the second period, Sharp scored his first goal of the season with a backhand in close to make it 2-0 Condors.  Weller and D Shaun Fisher earned the assists.  The Salmon Kings cut the lead to 2-1 when C Mike Hamilton scored on the power play with 4:29 left in the middle frame.  But the Condors struck back just 27 seconds later to increase their lead to 3-1.  Sharp converted a 2-on-1 set up by D Stu Bickel and Sexton.  The scoring didn't end there.  D Taylor Wellington made it 3-2 with 1:49 remaining in the second period. The third period was tight, with the Salmon Kings pressing to score the equalizer after earning three power plays in the first 13 minutes.  But LW Logan MacMillan scored on a breakaway, while shortahanded, for a 4-2 Condors lead with 6:47 to play in the third period.  Bickel and RW Andrew Ianiero earned the assists.  However, C Oliver Latendresse struck on the same power play to cut the lead to 4-3.  Victoria continued to put on the pressure, but Pogge stood his ground to preserve the win.
