Milwaukee Admirals Take 2-1 Decision From Rockford IceHogs

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Milwaukee, WI– The Admirals received second period goals from Mark Santorelli and Andreas Thuresson to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead, as the Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Rockford IceHogs by that same score Friday night at the Bradley Center.

The Ads made it eight of nine games in which they gave up the first goal of the game when Rockford’s Rob Klinkhammer tallied the first goal of the game.  Klinkhammer received a pass up the middle of the ice from IceHogs goaltender Corey Crawford, Klinkhammer then was able to take the puck down the ice and pass it in front of the Ads net.  The pass was inadvertently sent to the back of the net when it hit off of a back checking Scott Ford.  Crawford received the rare goaltender assist at 13:16 in the first period.

After recent struggles on the man advantage, Milwaukee’s powerplay was able to get more shots on the goaltender Friday night.  The Ads took benefitted from a man advantage in the second period when Mark Santorelli blasted a low slap shot from the high slot that beat Crawford stick side.  The goal was recorded at 6:19 in the second period with both Ben Eaves and Robert Dietrich receiving helpers.

With 4:59 left in the second the Ads caught a lucky break of their own when Cal O’Reilly dumped the puck into the Rockford zone, Dietrich raced down the ice as Crawford went out to the play the puck to an IceHog defender.  The puck skipped over the netminders stick and Dietrich took advantage, centering  in the slot where Thuresson was waiting to fire the puck into a vacant net as Crawford was caught recovering on the play.

Mark Dekanich had one of his better performances of the early season stopping twenty-nine out of thirty shots and helping keep the IceHogs from tying the game in the third period in spite of a pair of Rockford power-play opportunities.

Commissioner Bud Selig shaved drug suspensions of players and broke the rules of MLB. Will Manny Ramirez and three others do a year? What will happen to dozens of minor league players whose records, teams, and leagues are affected? Read the whole story at SZ ( www.mlnsports.com).
