Providence Bruins Edged By Worcester Sharks, 3-2

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Providence, RIThe Providence Bruins fell to the Worcester Sharks 3-2 Saturday evening at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Jamie Arniel and Kirk MacDonald.  The P-Bruins return to action at home at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game against the Manchester Monarchs.

 

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 6:27 mark of the opening period, while on the power play.  Mikko Lehtonen passed the puck to Matt Marquardt, who found Arniel heading towards the net.  Ariel put the puck into the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season.  Worcester tied the game at one at the 10:05 mark.  Brandon Mashinter tallied his fifth goal of the season, while Danny Groulx and Steven Zalewski recorded the assists.  The game went into the first intermission tied at one. 

 

The P-Bruins retook the lead at the 13 second mark of the second period.  Adam McQuaid sent the puck out of his own end to Zach Hamill in the neutral zone.  He carried it behind the Sharks net and fed it in the slot for MacDonald, who scored his fourth goal of the season.  Providence led 2-1 heading into the second intermission. 

 

In the third period, the Sharks tied the game at two at the 11:35 mark.  Dwight Helminen netted his third goal of the season, while Will Colbert picked up the lone assist.  The Sharks took their first lead of the evening, while on the power play at the 18:02 mark.  Joe Callahan tallied his first goal of the season, with Mashinter grabbing the lone assist.  Worcester went on to the 3-2 victory. 

 

Dany Sabourin stopped 28 of 31 shots for the P-Bruins, while Alex Stalock made 31 saves for the Sharks.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
