Bakersfield Condors Defeat Las Vegas Wranglers 4-2 - ECHL
Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 10:47AM Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (6-5-0-0, 12pts) erased two deficits en route to a 4-2 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers (5-5-0-0, 10pts) in front of 5,368 fans at Rabobank Arena Saturday night. LW Kyle Calder and RW Dan Sexton each recorded two goals, and G Timo Pielemeier made 27 saves to earn the victory.
The Wranglers scored the opening goal in the rubber match of their three-game series against the Condors. LW Mick Lawrence tallied his first of two goals on the night at 4:29 of the first period. The Condors struck back when Calder fired a high shot over the shoulder of G Michael Ouzas for his first goal in a Condors uniform at 7:38 of the first period. Defensemen Eric Regan and Sasha Pokulok picked up assists on the power play goal. But Lawrence scored his second of the game with 3:57 to play in the first period for a 2-1 Wranglers lead after 20 minutes.

In the second period, Calder tied the game at two with his second goal of the game on a breakaway at 8:33. F Andrew Ianiero and D Shaun Fisher picked up the assists on the only goal of the middle frame. Pielmeier had to be sharp in the second period, stopping all 15 Wranglers shots, including a C Adam Miller penalty shot. The Condors successfully killed off four power plays in the second period and all nine against in the game.
In the third period, Sexton and the Condors took control, out-shooting Las Vegas 11-6 in the final 20 minutes. Sexton gave the Condors a 3-2 lead with 4:47 remaining in the third period when he corralled a puck at the side of the net and lofted it over a sprawled Ouzas. D Stu Bickel and D Mark Mitera, playing in his first Condors game, earned assists on the play. Just 2:06 later, Sexton took a perfect cross-ice feed from LW Shawn Weller and buried it past Ouzas. C MacGregor Sharp earned the other assist on the goal. The Condors maintain their hold on first place in the Pacific Division with the win.
