FC Indiana Shuts Out the Buffalo Flash 3-0 - W-League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-LAFAYETTE, IN,July 24, 2009— FC Indiana moved their season record to 11-0-2 on Friday night when they blanked the Buffalo Flash (9-6-1) 3-0 at Jefferson HS in Lafayette, Indiana. FC Indiana had the better of the possession and chances in the fast paced first half, as Fatima Leyva scored twice and Laura Del Rio added one goal. At the other end of the pitch, FC Indiana goal keeper Shannon Lynn made two saves in each half to register his eleventh clean sheet of the season.

Lionesses captain Fatima Leyva continued her outstanding play in midfield and created several first half opportunities that should have been better dealt with by her strikers. After missing an open goals from close range, the Lionesses finally got on the board in the 13th minute when Leyva scored on a direct free kick giving Buffalo keeper Amanda Becker no chance from 21 yards out.

Monica Ocampo did all the work on the left flank when she set up Laura Del Rio for a simple tap in in the 26th minute to put the Lioness ahead 2-0. The last ten minutes of the first half saw end to end action while the Flash tried desperately to get back in the game and the Lionesses did the same trying to get the all important third goal to put the game away. Del Rio made a solo run late in the half and was fouled in the box by Lena Mosebo. Mosebo was yellow carded and Leyva took the penalty to make the score 3-0 FC Indiana.
