Kevin Butler Tapped As New Head Coach of ABA Columbia Rottweilers

MLN Newswire - Columbia, SC.  South Carolina's new professional basketball team, the Columbia Rottweilers announced that they have named Kevin Butler as the new head coach for the ABA's team in the Midlands.  Butler has played, coached, managed and developed basketball players from high school, junior college, collegiate, minor league professional men's and women's basketball over the course of his 25 year career.
 
"I grew up playing basketball on the grounds of both Richmond, VA and Washington, DC and ove rthe years have had the opportunity to grow my talents preparing me for this position," said Butler.  "I couldn't be happier to have been asked to coach the Rottweilers and am thrilled to have the opportunity to help develop this team."
 
Butler began his basketball coaching career at Marshall/Walker High School in Ricmond. During his stead at the school, he held lead the Cavaliers to back-to-back wins in division AAA Virginia Basketball Championships in the 1981-1982 and 1982-1983 seasons. He has coached basketball at Edwards Waters College, Arkansas Baptist College and Rutledge Junior College of Business.
 
His experience also includes coaching many professional basketball teams.  Most recently, during the 2005 season, Butler served as a member of the statistical operations team with the NBA Charlotte Bobcats.  "We are thrilled to have Kevin leading our coaching staff during what is sure to be an exciting inaugural season, " said Rottweilers owner John Wannamaker. "His extensive experience will help guide the excellent talent we are selecting and assure the Rottweilers are a strong team."
