ABA Houston Franchise Gets New Ownership - Basketball Business Brief

MLN Newswire - Indianapolis, IN.  The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the team in Houston, Texas has been acquired by Houston businessman Larry Donnell II, owner of SNL Investment Group Inc and SNL Development Group Inc and will be ready to begin play in November. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "Larry and his wife Shuwana have always been visionaries,  advocates of urban development, education and upward mobility and are considered to be  prime influences in the Houston communities and surrounding areas.  They love basketball and the ABA - and will make the team very successful. We're pleased to have them as part of the ABA."

An athlete at Grambling State University, Larry founded Gamma Alpha Phi Christian Fraternity which expanded to various cities throughout Texas and Louisiana and is also the founder and sole sponsor of an all men baseball team called the G-Men in Houston. The team is part of USSSA Baseball.  He thrives in helping community efforts such as contributing counsel, leadership and growth development to the Exodus Dance Theatre of Houston and Dallas and is currently the underwriter for The Urban Sanctuary, an inner-city mentoring program. His wife and he are involved in property investments as well as commercial and residential development projects.  "Shuwana and I are very excited to be a part of the ABA," stated Leonard.  "We're looking forward to some spirited competition with the Texas Tycoons and Waco Wrangers and are greatly appreciative of Charles Key for giving us this opportunity. We have a lot of work to do but know that we'll be ready."
