New Jersey Devils Purchase Majority Interest in ECHL Trenton Titans & Will Move Affiliation

CheapCaribbean.com

MLN Newswire - East Rutherford, NJ – The National Hockey League’s New Jersey Devils today purchased a majority interest in the ECHL franchise in Trenton, NJ from the Berman family.  Ron Berman will retain a minority interest in the team.  As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.  The announcement was made by Devils’ CEO/ President/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.

“The Devils have had a commitment to the people of New Jersey since 1982-83.  As we celebrate our 25th anniversary season, we look to continue that commitment in the state’s capital city,” said Lamoriello.  “We look forward to adding Trenton to our minor league development system.”

Ron Berman added, “The Berman Family is extremely pleased that we were able to bring the Devils to Trenton and Mercer County.  We know that the Devils will continue to bring exciting and winning hockey to Titans’ fans for many years to come.”

Trenton entered the league in 1999-00 and were the 2005 Kelly Cup Champions.   The Titans play their home games at the 7,605-seat Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton.  The sale is subject to the approval of the Mercer County Improvement Authority’s assignment of the arena’s lease and the ECHL’s Board of Governors.
