DURHAM, NC – The Can-Am League announced today that Atlantic City Surf manager Chris Carminucci has been named the 2007 league Manager of the Year as voted by the field managers and media.

Carminucci, 33, led the Surf to a playoff berth in their first season as a member of the Can-Am League. He guided Atlantic City to the second best record in the league at 51-41. Last season, he managed the St. Joe Blacksnakes of the American Association in their inaugural season and guided them to a 49-46 record. In 2005, he was the skipper of the Can-Am’s road team, the Grays. In 2004, he was a coach for the Bangor Lumberjacks (Northeast League).

The Surf manager was a four-year starter at LaGrange College in Georgia, where he was a third basemen and led the team in hitting his junior and senior year. Following his playing career, Carminucci became an associate scout for the Kansas City Royals from 1999-2002. In 2003, he was named an assistant coach for the Brewester (Mass.) Whitecaps of the Cape Cod League. In September of that year, Carminucci became the assistant baseball coach at St. John’s University.
