Seattle Mariners Choose Jamie Navarro To Man The Helm For The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers – A Midwest League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com – Appleton, WI: The Seattle Mariners have announced that former Milwaukee Brewer Jamie Navarro has been named the Timber Rattlers pitching coach in 2008.

Navarro was drafted by the Brewers in the third round of the June Draft in 1987. His first full season in the Major Leagues was in 1991 where he threw a career-high 10 complete games in his 34 starts. That year, Navarro tied for third in the Majors in complete games and led Milwaukee in starts, complete games & innings pitched. Throughout his 10 season career, Navarro also spent time with the Cubs, White Sox, Indians, & Blue Jays. His last game was July 26, 2000.

The Rattlers will welcome an entirely new field staff to Time Warner Cable Field in April 2008. Navarro will join field manager Terry Pollreisz, hitting coach Rafael Santo Domingo & athletic trainer Matt Toth.

The new assignments come as the Rattlers former field manager Jim Horner and pitching coach Lance Painter head to (High A) High Desert. The Mariners did not renew the contract of former hitting coach Dana Williams or athletic trainer Tim Higgins.
