Colorado 14ers Head Coach and General Manager Joe Wolf Accepts Assistant Coaching Job with Milwaukee Bucks

MLN - THE RAW FEED - www.mlntherawfeed.com - NEW YORK, April 21, 2008 – Colorado 14ers Head Coach and General Manager Joe Wolf has accepted an assistant coaching position with the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, announced Wednesday by Bucks General Manager John Hammond. Wolf will work under head coach Scott Skiles and alongside fellow assistants Jim Boylan, Lionel Hollins, Kelvin Sampson and Bill Peterson.   
            
“I had a great two years helping the 14ers build a foundation for their basketball future,” said Wolf. “My wife and I enjoyed our time (with the 14ers). We also enjoyed all the people we had the opportunity to work with and wish them much success”.
 
“When I hired Joe I thought that we would be lucky enough to have him for a couple of seasons before moving up. He most definitely belongs on an NBA bench and I congratulate him on this next step in his career,” said Colorado 14ers Co-Owner Tim Wiens. “This further supports the concept of the NBA Development League for its players, coaches, staff members and referees.”

Wolf, a native of Kohler, Wisconsin, joins the Bucks after serving with the NBA Development League’s Colorado 14ers during the team’s first two seasons. Wolf coached nine different players that have received Gatorade call-ups, including Eddie Gill, Billy Thomas, and Kaniel Dickens. The trio combined to receive a D-League-best six call-ups from the 14ers this past season.
 
He advanced the club to the first round of the playoffs in 2007-08 as a wild card, while in 2006-07 he led the 14ers to a 28-22 record and second in the West Division. The team advanced to the championship game before falling to Dakota in overtime. The University of North Carolina alum was head coach of the CBA’s Idaho Stampede for two seasons (2004-06) leading the team to the semifinals with a 25-23 record in his second season .
 
Wolf was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 13th overall selection in the 1987 NBA Draft and played 11 seasons in the NBA with the Los Angeles Clippers, Denver, Boston, Portland, Charlotte, Orlando and the 1996-97 season in Milwaukee. He averaged 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 592 career games.
 
Wolf was named the best high school basketball player in Wisconsin’s history by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2005. Wolf and his wife, Jill, return to Wisconsin where his family currently resides.
