Hawaii Hurricanes Name Darrell Matsui As New Assistant Coach - ABA

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com - Honolulu, HI.  After a long search, Alika Smith, head coach of the new ABA Hawaii Hurricanes, is proud to announce the hiring of local resident and island collegiate basketball assistant coaching great Darrell Matsui, as the team's new assistant coach.

Matsui, who most recently served as an assistant coach for the Chaminade University basketball team under Matt Mahar which finished last season with a 16-11 record.  Matsui was with Chaminade for three seasons including the 2005-2006 Pac West championship team.  Previous to this Matsui was an assistant with the Hawaii Pacific University men's basketball program which in 1993 won the NAIA Championship.

"Coach D is a huge asset to the Hawaii Hurricanes, with his knowledge both on the court and off. I look forward to seeing what tricks Coach D and Coach Smith have up their sleeves this season," stated John Castleman, a long-time local basketball fan.
